As a family photographer documenting birth stories is hands down my favorite kind of work, because it is the purest representation of a family being made. I love the story telling involved and the raw and authentic experience of organic unposed real life. It allows me to capture one of the most miraculous and pivotal moments in a persons life and I take this responsibility very seriously. I have documented more than dozens of births now and with every birth I take on I make it a priority to meet with each and every expecting mother prior to the big day to ensure we have an opportunity to be well acquainted so we feel comfortable in the delivery space, I want to feel more like a friend than a stranger. While we chat I make sure to feel out the mothers individual comfort level with types of shots they'd like to see and or omit as well as get a grasp on the mothers birth plan to better prepare my approach to documenting the big moments.
When I schedule a birth I make sure my calendar is clear the week prior to and following the babies due date so I can be on call and make that birth my highest priority. In addition to labor/delivery included in every birth story I include a complimentary fresh 48 session that includes a letter board with baby's name and stats as well as shots of the baby swaddled in their bassinet and or meeting their siblings if you'd like.
Due to their intimate nature and my respect for the privacy of my clients I will not have birth images posted on this site or on social media. If you'd like to see a sample gallery of images cleared for viewing by my past clients I would be happy to share them and answer any other questions your might have. Just request them by sending me a message here!
